We were able to open at sunset and observe until 22:07 when the seeing became so bad (4") that the observer couldn't do their science. Then the clouds rolled in. And the humidity spiked. I tried to open for the B-half observers, hoping the humidity would allow us 30 min but, alas, it was unforgiving. As soon as I opened the humidity went up and the clouds came down. I closed about 15min later and we remained closed the rest of the night. The loyal minions of Jerry Bary (Max Kurzner,Muriel Drexler,Sarah Reid, Chris Garling) finished up their four run in late night, pajama, moving-watching style and are now fully trained. No problems tonight. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:05 arctic 495( 963) 342 33 13.2 15.6 16.0 15.4 14.0 SDSS-r 3.00 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 64 46 17 33 (NNE) 567 ptly cldy none 17:00 63 48 13 67 (ENE) 794 ptly cldy none 18:00 62 47 20 75 (ENE) 782 ptly cldy none 19:00 60 48 16 81 (E) 899 ptly cldy none 20:00 58 48 19 76 (ENE) 875 mstly clr none 21:00 56 51 20 69 (ENE) 1178 ptly cldy none 22:00 56 50 1 107 (ESE) 1061 mstly cldy humid 23:00 53 50 13 113 (ESE) 1230 mstly cldy humid 00:00 53 50 8 84 (E) 892 mstly cldy humid 01:00 52 49 10 138 (SE) 811 mstly cldy humid 02:00 52 49 17 75 (ENE) 620 mstly cldy humid 03:00 52 49 9 110 (ESE) 524 mstly cldy humid 04:00 52 49 7 92 (E) 665 mstly cldy humid 05:00 50 48 10 145 (SE) 649 cloudy rain Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
