While closed I mounted NICFPS and we inverted the instrument to see if we had any pressure changes or ion pump spikes, all looked good. Top priority was getting a na2guider instrument block, which we did. I found several corrections that needed to be made to the wiki, which I made. While I did this Russet worked on performing other guide camera checks to make sure the guider would guide properly and issue the correct offsets. Russet wrote up a separate set of notes from her findings and emailed to the appropriate parties. After we finished with the guider, I checked NICFPS out on the sky (and focus). We also checked to confirm that the guider actually would guide properly with an NA2 instrument (we had guider selected as the instrument in previous tests). We switched to ARCTIC to test for bleeding and trailing in quad mode. We checked pointing on the echelle, dropped star almost directly on the slit. We finished a few minutes early as we didn't really have any other tasks that could fit in the remaining time period or weather conditions just weren't favorable. We got the most important tasks completed despite the forecast. The new ARCTIC crank handle worked fine. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 02:07 NICFPS 606( 768) 156 72 3.1 3.3 5.2 3.1 2.8 Ks 2.00 02:37 arctic 476( 282) 198 60 3.6 3.0 4.6 2.9 2.8 sdss r 0.82 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 47 35 4 194 (SSW) 1420 cloudy rain 17:00 41 38 16 7 (N) 1370 cloudy rain 18:00 35 32 9 256 (WSW) 558 cloudy lt rain 19:00 36 32 3 266 (W) 557 cloudy lt rain 20:00 37 32 15 267 (W) 529 cloudy humid 21:00 36 32 24 293 (WNW) 414 cloudy humid 22:00 38 31 7 5 (N) 335 cloudy humid 23:00 41 28 13 283 (WNW) 651 mstly cldy none 00:00 40 30 7 288 (WNW) 500 ptly cldy none 01:00 38 31 4 263 (W) 513 ptly cldy none 02:00 38 30 8 284 (WNW) 675 mstly clr none 03:00 38 30 8 300 (WNW) 615 mstly clr none 04:00 39 29 8 269 (W) 566 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
