Everything was working well until I started seeing some unfamiliar error messages which I thought indicated a guider problem. When the observer finished his exposure and wanted to move to another target, it turned out the problem was with TCC communication to the rotator, or maybe communication to all axes. It was still possible to talk to all axis controllers through another method, and they all looked fine. I tried restarting some software, and in the process I also managed to make the secondary mirror controller upset. When it was getting close to twilight and I hadn't figured out the first problem, much less the secondary problem, I decided it was time to call it a night. Hopefully someone else can understand what went wrong. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- UV02 D T/S 04:45 06:31 TCC communication to axes failed ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:30 APOLLO 698( 1640) 67 50 8.1 10.4 10.1 10.6 9.5 530 1.10 20:51 dcamera 611( 527) 125 68 7.9 8.2 8.7 8.2 7.7 - 1.13 01:15 dcamera 541( 425) 240 56 7.8 7.4 8.0 7.5 7.4 - 0.93 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 50 27 10 303 (WNW) 979 clear none 17:00 51 28 20 237 (WSW) 910 clear none 18:00 50 30 13 250 (WSW) 941 clear none 19:00 49 29 19 205 (SSW) 880 clear none 20:00 46 24 15 223 (SW) 859 clear none 21:00 46 24 17 239 (WSW) 893 clear none 22:00 47 23 14 232 (SW) 796 clear none 23:00 47 24 13 242 (WSW) 871 clear none 00:00 47 24 11 218 (SW) 819 clear none 01:00 46 19 13 203 (SSW) 754 clear none 02:00 46 18 17 220 (SW) 920 clear none 03:00 46 18 17 235 (SW) 995 clear none 04:00 46 18 14 234 (SW) 984 mstly clr none 05:00 45 19 10 266 (W) 1007 ptly cldy none 06:00 44 18 10 264 (W) 892 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
