We were able to open at 20:58 but focus was just a disaster. This was due to the large temp difference between the mirror and the outside air that was sustained due to the louvers being closed and fans being turned off because of the dust. Once the mirror became more equalized with outside air temp, the seeing became much less appalling at values of ~2" and improved with the night. No problems tonight. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:38 arctic 764( 510) -39 50 -1.1 1.7 4.9 1.2 0.2 SDSS-r 5.50 21:57 arctic 864( 582) -91 47 -1.0 1.1 3.7 0.6 -0.2 JC-Rc 2.10 22:45 arctic 539( 178) -25 77 -1.1 -0.1 1.5 -0.4 -0.8 JC-Rc 1.30 23:28 arctic 489( 102) 18 61 -1.1 -0.7 0.5 -0.9 -1.1 JC-Rc 1.50 00:38 arctic 524( 106) 11 72 -1.4 -1.2 -0.2 -1.2 -1.5 UNM-657/3 1.30 01:06 arctic 510( 84) -11 72 -1.3 -1.4 -0.4 -1.4 -1.6 SDSS-r 1.50 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 43 15 36 248 (WSW) 10083 clear dust 17:00 41 16 33 251 (WSW) 26260 clear dust 18:00 38 13 29 273 (W) 31463 clear dust 19:00 36 10 23 268 (W) 20301 clear dust 20:00 34 9 23 284 (WNW) 8164 clear dust 21:00 31 12 11 299 (WNW) 2967 clear none 22:00 30 11 11 16 (NNE) 857 clear none 23:00 30 12 17 341 (NNW) 700 clear none 00:00 30 13 7 325 (NW) 702 clear none 01:00 30 15 10 314 (NW) 837 clear none 03:00 31 15 7 42 (NE) 693 clear none 04:00 30 15 12 359 (N) 716 clear none 05:00 30 15 14 8 (N) 709 clear none 06:00 29 17 15 16 (NNE) 847 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
