Seeing was moderate. There was trouble with the Agile rotator on the first program of the night. When the rotator neared the rotation limit a motion error occurred and I had to reset the rotator. This occurred several times. When that was addressed I spent some time trying to solve the issue of the missing stars. After attempting to change the tertiary mirror position and opening and closing the eyelid I visually inspected the eyelid and found it would not open. The eyelid was able to open after I closed and reopened the mirror covers. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- UW09 A T/H 18:30 19:30 Agile rotator motion error UW09 A T/H 19:30 20:05 TR2 eyelid not opening ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:17 AGILE 575(-1568) 201 16 7.4 7.2 7.8 7.2 6.9 BG40 1.00 00:21 dcamera 512( 277) 80 79 5.9 5.3 6.0 5.4 5.3 -- 1.70 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 50 15 12 277 (W) 514 mstly cldy none 17:00 48 14 16 266 (W) 540 mstly cldy none 18:00 47 13 11 286 (WNW) 527 ptly cldy none 19:00 46 13 8 349 (N) 541 mstly clr none 20:00 45 12 14 352 (N) 419 clear none 21:00 45 13 12 10 (N) 397 clear none 22:00 45 13 11 327 (NNW) 458 clear none 23:00 43 13 14 294 (WNW) 449 clear none 00:00 43 14 16 355 (N) 457 clear none 01:00 42 14 7 355 (N) 529 clear none 02:00 43 15 14 337 (NNW) 480 clear none 03:00 42 16 11 35 (NE) 463 clear none 04:00 42 16 18 6 (N) 456 clear none 05:00 41 17 13 358 (N) 465 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
