There was never any hope of getting on sky tonight. The storm raged all night long. The fog was so thick in the afternoon that I couldn't even see the dome. Rain. Hail. More rain. LOTS of wind. A little less rain. Some what less wind. Fog all night. However, it was the first night for GS05 observer to fly solo and she was going for broke! Given the cold and wet weather I must give a shameless plug for flannel-lined jeans. OMG! I was able to stay up on the dome floor and run around outside for 2 hours and my legs never became cold! ------------- Given the weather we had tonight and yesterday, I think the following poetic summary of the night is in good order: Oh the weather outside is frightful, And to sleep is so delightful, And since I've fills tomorrow, Let me stow, let me stow, let me stow. This doesn't show signs of stopping, And I've brought some tarts for popping (get it?) Fog lights are turned way down low, Let me stow, let me stow, let me stow. When we finally "K, g'night!" How I hate going out in the storm, But if I really close up tight, The dome will stay nice and...dry! Hopes of sky are swiftly dying, Why are we even trying? So if you could just let me go, I can stow, I can stow, I can stow... No, it doesn't show signs of stopping, And my jaw is wide and popping, Eye lids are drooped way down low Oh....let me stow, let me stoooow! Hope of sleep is slowly dying, And inside I'm kinda crying, But until you Make It So, I won't stow, I won't stow, I won't stow... ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 37 37 30 204 (SSW) cloudy rain 17:00 37 37 21 228 (SW) cloudy rain 18:00 37 37 34 232 (SW) cloudy rain 19:00 38 38 22 221 (SW) cloudy rain 20:00 38 38 25 214 (SW) cloudy rain 21:00 39 39 31 213 (SSW) cloudy rain 22:00 40 40 37 208 (SSW) cloudy rain 23:00 39 39 25 209 (SSW) cloudy rain 00:00 38 38 26 229 (SW) cloudy rain 01:00 37 37 22 251 (WSW) cloudy rain 02:00 36 36 22 259 (W) cloudy rain 03:00 35 35 28 238 (WSW) cloudy rain 04:00 34 34 24 245 (WSW) cloudy rain 05:00 33 33 21 239 (WSW) cloudy rain Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
