ARCTIC was reading all pixels the same value in LL (saturated), snd in quad mode, three of the quads were very high in counts and one quad was out. As we needed the instrument tonight, I attempted an ARCTIC init and was able to bring the LL and Quad mode back to normal levels but the UL quad continued to be out. I didn't attempt a second init. The afternoon started with some holes in the clouds and I pounced on my trainees, trying to get them on sky. Alas, all was in vain. No sooner had the Set set then Venus became veiled by clouds. Then came the rain, cold and biting with the wind. A lone moth sought shelter in the control room. Unsurprisingly, we were not able to open all night and the rain still falls. There was water on the dome floor by the echelle and on the railing directly behind and to the right of the echelle UPS on the intermediate level. Nothing seemed to be in danger and I wiped it up and sent a PR. I can't beat last nights night log, but I'm getting in the Christmas spirit with snow expected tomorrow so I'll start thinking of something clever for the next night log.... ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 46 25 3 331 (NNW) 257 ptly cldy none 17:00 46 30 9 321 (NW) 172 cloudy none 18:00 46 32 9 269 (W) 169 cloudy none 19:00 45 32 6 264 (W) 143 mstly cldy none 20:00 44 32 9 242 (WSW) 215 cloudy none 21:00 43 32 6 249 (WSW) 262 cloudy rain 22:00 42 32 5 192 (SSW) cloudy rain 23:00 41 31 8 183 (S) cloudy rain 00:00 35 32 8 95 (E) cloudy rain 01:00 41 31 20 200 (SSW) cloudy rain 02:00 41 31 19 207 (SSW) cloudy rain 03:00 39 31 25 225 (SW) cloudy rain 04:00 37 31 32 198 (SSW) cloudy rain Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
