I started the night by resetting the drive controllers. I had problems with the first controller I tried restarting. A call to Fritz and he found the error and fixed it for me (the ntp server was missing). Reset drive controllers for Az, Alt, Rot, and Agile rotator. Zero'ed rotator -0.510 I also started a set of cals for NM03 (drop in program) in case we get a break in the weather and I can take some quick observations for Patrick. At the moment it isn't looking promising but need to get the cals out of the way anyhow. I managed to open around 19:20 as the wind and dust were below closure levels. I quickly grabbed NM03 star (it was getting low at this point). The Clouds didn't help matters and grew thick about midway into the observations. Clouds completely swamped the sky about 5 mins into the NM03 observations. I finished the observations but at the end the sky was completely cloudy. I left the dome open, but no chance of observations, in hopes of improvements in the weather. I closed the enclosure at 20:45 once the wind speeds had again went over the limits. While closed I did the DIS internal focus exposures for Russet. I gave up at 04:00 with wind gust 50MPH and humidity at 82% with no signs of improvement. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:29 ecamera 956( -269) 235 21 5.0 5.7 5.7 5.9 5.5 ND3 2.30 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 46 21 32 270 (W) 4712 ptly cldy none 17:00 43 20 28 263 (W) 4919 ptly cldy none 18:00 42 22 35 261 (W) 5508 mstly clr none 19:00 40 21 33 228 (SW) 4857 mstly cldy none 20:00 42 20 28 235 (SW) 1914 cloudy none 21:00 42 19 31 253 (WSW) 925 cloudy none 22:00 41 19 31 250 (WSW) 745 cloudy none 23:00 39 21 39 242 (WSW) 931 cloudy none 00:00 38 22 29 240 (WSW) 918 cloudy none 01:00 37 24 33 237 (WSW) 1183 cloudy none 02:00 37 27 38 261 (W) 1304 cloudy none 03:00 36 28 47 257 (WSW) 1406 cloudy none 04:00 35 30 28 260 (W) 1109 cloudy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
