It was clear all night but the wind was a beast. Luckily, we had a lady on our side. We started the night with speed observing of Venus (and the NICFPS ND filter worked, yay!) and our CU02 trainee is now fully trained! Unfortunately, the winds really kicked up their heels and destroyed the seeing. We were able to stay open the whole night, even with gusts near 45mph by pointing away from the wind, but with all the turbulence the seeing was near 5" most of the night (yes, 5"!!!). Tspec wasn't working and ARCSAT was giving us problems but other than that, no problems tonight. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:39 NICFPS 794( 1135) 241 45 3.4 6.5 6.7 6.5 6.1 MK-H 1.70 19:54 dcamera 886( 439) 229 40 0.3 0.7 1.6 0.7 0.3 -- 5.32 23:19 dcamera 750( 194) 7 56 -1.1 -1.2 -0.5 -1.0 -0.6 -- 5.43 00:19 dcamera 765( 164) 166 69 -1.9 -1.9 -1.2 -1.8 -1.0 -- 4.65 00:19 dcamera 765( 164) 166 69 -1.9 -1.9 -1.2 -1.8 -1.0 -- 4.65 05:42 APOLLO 550( 828) 58 24 -2.8 -3.0 -2.5 -2.8 -1.4 530 3.00 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 47 11 7 196 (SSW) 627 clear none 17:00 42 19 12 108 (ESE) 555 clear none 18:00 36 15 15 89 (E) 699 clear none 19:00 34 9 23 83 (E) 580 clear none 20:00 33 11 25 82 (E) 587 clear none 21:00 32 16 28 88 (E) 664 clear none 22:00 31 18 34 69 (ENE) 757 clear none 23:00 31 18 26 78 (ENE) 799 clear none 00:00 29 16 23 74 (ENE) 749 clear none 01:00 29 16 20 82 (E) 762 clear none 02:00 29 17 21 77 (ENE) 754 clear none 03:00 28 15 19 78 (ENE) 682 clear none 04:00 28 14 19 85 (E) 619 clear none 05:00 27 12 20 82 (E) clear none 06:00 27 11 14 91 (E) 504 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
