Sleet. Rain. Humidity. Fog. 4 horseman. The weather was bad all night. We pushed the humidity limit for a few min at 23:00 but only long enough to focus and determine that the wind and seeing were too variable to complete the focus comparison between dis and dcam and we closed back up. We were only able to complete DIS tasks tonight. ===DIS=== Using the pinhole slit, light halos are visible in the 2D spectra but the Gaussian of the points looks clean with no or minimal contamination. We tested the new 5.0" slit and it is thicker than the other slits and the holder plates on either side do not fit properly, causing them to stick out and not lie flush with the back of the slit wheel. We took off the normal holders and tried small teflon ones that were holding another slit in the spare wheel. It worked! A new dcam mask was taken and applied. Looking at column cuts of the 2D spectra show that the new slit does have sharper edges. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 22:54 dcamera 758( 338) 229 78 0.4 1.7 2.8 1.6 0.7 -- 2.74 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 37 33 1 210 (SSW) mstly cldy humid 17:00 36 32 3 168 (SSE) mstly cldy humid 18:00 35 31 1 108 (ESE) mstly cldy rain 19:00 34 31 18 66 (ENE) mstly cldy humid 20:00 33 30 18 62 (ENE) mstly cldy humid 21:00 33 30 14 56 (NE) ptly cldy humid 22:00 33 30 15 67 (ENE) ptly cldy humid 23:00 32 29 20 74 (ENE) mstly clr humid 00:00 32 29 21 73 (ENE) mstly clr humid 01:00 32 30 17 74 (ENE) ptly cldy humid 02:00 31 29 13 76 (ENE) ptly cldy humid 03:00 32 29 14 75 (ENE) ptly cldy humid 04:00 31 29 12 78 (ENE) ptly cldy humid Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
