Students got a tour this evening. Beginning of the night we had some thin clouds which didn't cause many problems. The clouds got very thick in the second half. We had no luck with Agile, so switched to Echelle. Even that had trouble, and we fought the clouds the rest of the night. We stayed open, continually trying to get data that was only partially successful. We did manage to get a few good spectra in the cloud holes, so it wasn't a total wash. We gave up when twilight started. No problems with the secondary tonight. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:00 SPIcam 428( 708) 125 76 9.8 9.5 9.8 9.2 9.1 SDSS r 0.94 21:28 dcamera 338( 471) -58 66 9.6 9.4 9.8 9.6 9.4 -- 1.40 01:57 ecamera 290( -668) 210 62 8.9 8.6 9.0 8.8 8.7 Clear 2.00 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp C Dewp C MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 18 269 (W) 698 clear none 17:00 22 264 (W) 804 clear none 18:00 21 261 (W) 766 clear none 19:00 11 271 (W) 753 clear none 20:00 19 249 (WSW) 718 ptly cldy none 21:00 18 244 (WSW) 559 mstly clr none 22:00 17 245 (WSW) 566 ptly cldy none 23:00 13 243 (WSW) 599 mstly clr none 00:00 14 222 (SW) 553 mstly clr none 01:00 16 223 (SW) 507 ptly cldy none 02:00 20 240 (WSW) 465 ptly cldy none 03:00 19 222 (SW) 433 cloudy none 04:00 20 226 (SW) 395 cloudy none 05:00 20 213 (SSW) 462 cloudy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
