Photometric all night. Lots of tasks accomplished. Russet came in to work on DIS internal focus. Found the pinhole slit was installed wrong in the slit wheel, causing the focus to appear off. Once corrected, things looked fine. I reverted back to tcc version 1.0.4 due to a couple issues we found last night in the new version. I did a collimation (out of focus doughnut) image with Agile to check last nights collimation updates. DIS Throughput with 3 stars at the start of the eveing Alignment of Shack-Hartmann camera, things looked fine tonight. No adjustment necessary. Checked where telescope came off T load cell, 86.7 deg tonight. Only thing that changed in the past month was the UPS failure leading to the PMSS over pressure, with a strong hissing sound coming from the area. A month ago it was around 84.5 deg. Setting the gmech focusOffset worked fine tonight for guider. Used the makeGrid program (now installed on obs1 in Applications/APO) to create a 50 point grid. Then edited the file to set the alt to a range of 84.0-84.5 for several random stars in the grid. Ran the created high altitude pointing model. No real change from last nights model. This model was NOT implemented. DIS slitmask files not changing when changing slits. Restarted the dcam numbs which fixed the problem. Another set of DIS Throughput measurements, 2 new stars, 1 previous star (now at a much higher altitude) I let APOLLO have the telescope a little early for their run. Things were going fine and then the laser power dropped unexpectedly. Since we were had most of our 3.5m engineering tasks completed I let them use some of the engineering time to diagnose their laser problem. Another image of one of my DIS Throughput stars (one I had got earlier as well, now at high altitude). High altitude tracking tests with Agile One final DIS throughput star and last but not least DIS cals for the throughput measurements I also need to clean a fingerprint smudge off the 0.9 arc sec slit, I will do that tomorrow during checkout. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:41 AGILE 218(-1748) 151 66 10.0 8.4 8.3 7.9 7.0 sdss r 0.82 18:57 dcamera 234( 300) 156 67 10.0 8.2 8.1 7.6 7.0 -- 1.17 18:59 NA2gdr 1082(23082) 156 67 10.0 8.1 8.0 7.5 7.1 clear 1.21 21:46 guider 211( 328) 80 78 10.0 6.3 6.8 6.1 6.3 clear 1.40 23:29 dcamera 371( 349) 122 64 10.0 6.4 6.8 6.5 6.5 -- 1.40 23:54 APOLLO 300( 1187) 74 48 10.0 6.2 6.7 6.3 6.3 -- 1.80 01:53 dcamera 347( 305) 201 79 10.0 6.1 6.5 6.1 6.4 -- 1.45 02:21 AGILE 347(-1742) 118 83 10.0 6.2 6.6 6.3 6.2 sdss r 1.10 05:37 dcamera 280( 238) 150 54 10.0 5.9 6.2 5.9 6.2 -- 1.90 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp C Dewp C MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 9 -10 10 304 (NW) 217 clear none 17:00 8 -12 10 285 (WNW) 153 clear none 18:00 7 -11 5 270 (W) 188 clear none 19:00 7 -13 11 266 (W) 138 clear none 20:00 7 -11 11 265 (W) 179 clear none 21:00 6 -10 11 241 (WSW) 265 clear none 22:00 6 -10 12 265 (W) 279 clear none 23:00 7 -10 13 282 (WNW) 274 clear none 00:00 6 -11 15 353 (N) 181 clear none 01:00 6 -11 0 0 (N) 207 clear none 02:00 7 -12 25 348 (NNW) 229 clear none 03:00 7 -13 11 347 (NNW) 145 clear none 04:00 6 -12 20 354 (N) 143 clear none 05:00 6 -11 18 1 (N) 137 clear none 06:00 6 -10 17 344 (NNW) 118 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
