I tried Bill's trick of taking a couple images, but no change. Since TSPEC isn't scheduled for a few days I left the instrument alone so the Engineering staff can further investigate. Since we were closed for weather I did some slit rotation tests for Russet. DIS slit rotation tests (1.5 arc sec slit, 0.4s, Br. Qrtz.) Clouds and the threat of the dark clouds on the satellite, just to our west, kept us closed all night. We called it at 04:00. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp C Dewp C MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 6 -12 8 248 (WSW) 477 cloudy none 17:00 6 -12 9 249 (WSW) 460 cloudy none 18:00 5 -11 6 224 (SW) 1209 cloudy none 19:00 4 -13 15 238 (WSW) 998 cloudy none 20:00 4 -13 15 267 (W) 1130 cloudy none 21:00 4 -11 14 264 (W) 2033 cloudy none 22:00 3 -11 15 266 (W) 2244 cloudy none 23:00 3 -11 23 286 (WNW) 2710 cloudy none 00:00 2 -11 23 289 (WNW) 1395 cloudy none 01:00 2 -12 18 288 (WNW) 875 mstly cldy none 02:00 2 -10 16 264 (W) 1669 mstly cldy none 03:00 2 -10 22 297 (WNW) 818 mstly cldy none 04:00 2 -11 15 296 (WNW) 721 cloudy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
