I did some more analysis of the ARCTIC bias issue, which is improved but not eliminated by having the chip temperature regulated. Tonight was a good night to regulate the temperature, since the ambient temps dropped precipitously. Nothing broke in the cold, partly because I wasn't comfortable running all parts in bad weather conditions. I parked the telescope facing south for maximum insolation during the day, and that should be enough to clear the ice from the dome. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp C Dewp C MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 25 24 29 287 (WNW) 5915 cloudy humid 17:00 20 19 26 274 (W) 507 cloudy lt snow 18:00 18 16 26 253 (WSW) 328 cloudy lt snow 19:00 17 16 23 276 (W) 640 cloudy lt snow 20:00 17 15 15 268 (W) 1180 cloudy lt snow 21:00 16 15 17 299 (WNW) 954 cloudy humid 22:00 17 15 10 292 (WNW) 1187 cloudy humid 23:00 17 15 24 296 (WNW) 804 cloudy humid 00:00 16 15 19 284 (WNW) 786 cloudy humid 01:00 17 15 18 289 (WNW) 649 cloudy humid 02:00 17 15 20 270 (W) 589 cloudy humid 03:00 18 15 20 276 (W) 6352 cloudy humid 04:00 18 15 23 303 (WNW) 4595 cloudy humid 05:00 18 16 23 324 (NW) 272 cloudy humid Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
