Dataq looked much better, still some oscillations in az error, but much improved. Drove it around in AZ to test during afternoon checkout. Still multiple Motion errors and telescope run aways. I also again noticed the drive was about 0.3 deg off when the slew finished. This updated to match the az reported and commanded positions after the next update (about 5 seconds). I cleaned the drive surfaces once more (just a little residue). Joe was here so he stayed on the intermediate level to watch/listen as I slewed. He said drives sounded fine. Fritz logged in and suggested resetting the controller, then do some low level slews. Things seemed better behaved after (BTW the reset caused the az to reset to 0.0 deg, I reset it back to the original position). More testing showed no problems with slews over a wide range of positions. After the reset, TUI now reports the commanded and actual az position the same as the slew ends. Echelle pointing was off. I cleared the change I made last night and this fixed the Echelle pointing. No problems with the telescope with tracking or pointing after the fixes. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 02:52 ecamera 786( -538) 71 61 3.9 4.3 6.4 4.1 3.9 ND4 0.96 04:57 ecamera 611( -759) -37 61 3.7 3.5 4.9 3.3 3.4 ND3 0.91 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp C Dewp C MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 45 36 12 264 (W) 546 cloudy none 17:00 41 38 12 246 (WSW) 477 cloudy humid 18:00 41 38 10 244 (WSW) 471 ptly cldy humid 19:00 39 37 12 251 (WSW) 665 ptly cldy humid 20:00 39 36 13 251 (WSW) 666 ptly cldy humid 21:00 39 37 12 266 (W) 898 mstly clr humid 22:00 38 36 9 261 (W) 740 clear humid 23:00 38 35 9 265 (W) 733 clear humid 00:00 38 35 10 248 (WSW) 677 clear humid 01:00 38 36 8 260 (W) 776 clear humid 02:00 38 34 10 272 (W) 643 clear humid 03:00 39 33 11 291 (WNW) 508 clear none 04:00 39 34 12 290 (WNW) 542 clear none 05:00 39 32 11 308 (NW) 458 clear none 06:00 39 33 13 301 (WNW) 573 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
