I opened for science at 00:05, and attempted to get Ming on sky quickly with DIS. The NA2 rotator failed to rotate, although it checked out in the afternoon. I restarted the axis motors several times and inspected the instrument for obstructions. The rotator failed with low-level commands in talk2boxes. After 15 minutes of trouble-shooting, at 00:20 Ming elected to give up the rest of her time, as we were not likely to get on sky with DIS in time for her observations. Switching to echelle allowed CU04 to begin early, so the time from UV01's program went to her, giving CU04 a total of 5.7 hours of dark time. No problems for the remainder of the night. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- UV01 D T/H 00:05 00:20 NA2 rotator failed ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 00:43 ecamera 320( -283) 300 41 15.0 15.1 15.6 14.9 14.8 ND2 1.13 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 63 53 ?? 2149 ptly cldy none 17:00 66 53 ?? 1867 cloudy none 18:00 61 52 ?? 1737 cloudy none 19:00 59 52 ?? 1968 mstly cldy none 20:00 59 50 ?? 2019 cloudy none 21:00 60 47 ?? 1254 cloudy none 22:00 59 49 ?? 1437 mstly cldy none 23:00 58 50 ?? 1585 cloudy lt rain 00:00 58 51 ?? 1863 mstly clr none 01:00 59 49 ?? 1767 mstly clr none 02:00 57 52 ?? 2047 clear none 03:00 59 49 ?? 1592 clear none 04:00 58 51 ?? 2137 mstly clr none 05:00 57 50 ?? 2056 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
