I opened, focused, and took one spectra of a random IR std. Spectra looked fine. I was going to give TSpec to MikeS to put Tspec thru its paces and get some science as well. The clouds decided differently and thickened just after I got my test spectra. I switched to Echelle to check spectra on that instrument, since it could deal with the clouds better. Echelle spectra looked fine (well, I saw lines in the raw data so I assume it's fine). New tcam mask file created Switched to new TCC to shake some bugs while the sky conditions were marginal for tspec testing. Notes sent to Russell. I switch back to old TCC for further Tspec testing. I handed the telescope and tspec over to M.Skrutskie to test out tspec on some actual science targets. He reported that everything worked fine with the instrument and other than lots of pesky clouds that hindered science observations was satisfied. I took some out of focus images to check collimation with Agile (since SPIcam was not mounted). see images agile_focus-1500, agile_focus1500 and agile_focus-2000 collimation looked good to me. Switched back to the new TCC for further testing. Notes sent to Russell. I took dome flats for M.Skrutskie this morning with TSPEC. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:52 tcamera 255( 1062) 13 56 17.3 18.6 18.8 18.5 17.4 Ks 1.10 00:04 tcamera 393( 1113) 34 47 16.5 16.7 17.2 16.6 16.5 Ks 1.00 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 71 42 ?? 755 mstly cldy none 17:00 69 40 ?? 755 mstly cldy none 18:00 68 43 ?? 755 mstly cldy none 19:00 66 40 ?? 755 ptly cldy none 20:00 64 40 ?? 755 ptly cldy none 21:00 63 39 ?? 755 ptly cldy none 22:00 63 40 ?? 755 mstly cldy none 23:00 63 38 ?? 755 ptly cldy none 00:00 62 40 ?? 755 mstly cldy none 01:00 61 40 ?? 755 mstly cldy none 02:00 61 41 ?? 755 ptly cldy none 03:00 60 42 ?? 755 clear none 04:00 59 42 ?? 755 clear none 05:00 59 42 ?? 755 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
