They moved out quickly, but continued to form on top of us. Once it cleared enough to open for Anjum, we had issues with the agile rotator. I had checked it out yesterday, and everything looked ok. I called Bill. Turns out the weight on top of the instrument had fallen off, and was nestled up against the telescope with all of the cables. I taped it back on. Trouble spot was around 5 degrees, heading toward -20. This coincided with problems for the ARCSAT camera, and then more clouds rolled in. The Agile guider was having trouble keeping stars. It would say that it couldn't find them, but I inspected the images and they were indeed there. Anjum said this was normal for the rotator being in a non-standard setup. The rest of the night was fine, no other problems. Seeing was pretty good, and the clouds stayed away for most of second half. Unmounted tspec in the morning. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:01 AGILE 385(-1167) 35 51 14.8 16.3 16.3 15.9 14.8 BG40 1.40 00:22 tcamera 527( 1129) 16 36 14.0 14.0 14.3 13.8 13.4 -- 1.20 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 63 42 15 267 (W) 1653 ptly cldy none 17:00 67 39 22 270 (W) 1100 ptly cldy none 18:00 65 37 19 255 (WSW) 1372 ptly cldy none 19:00 62 36 13 262 (W) 913 ptly cldy none 20:00 62 37 20 255 (WSW) 1189 ptly cldy none 21:00 59 38 14 252 (WSW) 1398 mstly clr none 22:00 59 37 12 274 (W) 1144 mstly clr none 23:00 59 36 9 269 (W) 966 mstly clr none 00:00 58 35 7 305 (NW) 1075 mstly clr none 01:00 57 35 1 311 (NW) 921 clear none 02:00 58 34 13 16 (NNE) 671 clear none 03:00 57 34 1 341 (NNW) 769 clear none 04:00 56 34 7 11 (N) 718 clear none 05:00 56 33 8 34 (NE) 718 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
