Observing with GIFS was very successful, and we took lots of notes on how to operate it. We were faked out by SWIFT, and almost observed a non-GRB in Andromeda. Boo, SWIFT! On the very first slew of the day, Az had a motion error. It happened almost immediately (104.8 degrees, started from 104). The error plots had enormous oscillations, and the CSS reported current spikes of +/- 10. All of this happened immediately after starting the slew (00:57). Cleared easily with the stop button. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:31 dcamera 708( 1269) 57 77 15.1 17.9 18.1 17.8 15.6 -- 1.95 21:54 GIFS 550( 1035) -111 79 12.8 13.5 14.1 13.1 12.8 green_ifs 1.63 22:17 GIFS 525( 994) -107 75 12.5 13.1 13.7 12.8 12.5 6724 1.29 01:38 GIFS 525( 1046) 8 44 15.1 13.7 14.3 13.8 14.2 red_ifs 0.99 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 65 25 12 353 (N) 520 clear none 17:00 67 24 10 311 (NW) 601 clear none 18:00 67 22 13 325 (NW) 350 clear none 19:00 67 27 7 83 (E) 1000 clear none 20:00 62 30 14 77 (ENE) 437 clear none 21:00 58 31 13 85 (E) 548 clear none 22:00 56 31 16 87 (E) 596 clear none 23:00 55 31 17 71 (ENE) 645 clear none 00:00 55 31 18 78 (ENE) 628 clear none 01:00 56 31 11 91 (E) 554 clear none 02:00 59 28 7 45 (NE) 564 clear none 03:00 59 26 1 338 (NNW) 482 clear none 04:00 55 29 8 68 (ENE) 614 clear none 05:00 55 30 9 65 (ENE) 700 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
