Seeing started out good but degraded during the night as an eastern wind grew stronger. The binary pointing behavior caused a little difficulty with the echelle, but at most we lost a few minutes. It seems the 45 and 60 deg magnesensors give different values if crossed in the ascending or descending direction. The difference is about an arcminute, so troublesome for the echelle but not a problem with DIS. Medium-high altitude current levels occurred after slewing up to approach a field from below, and the highest levels were when slewing up to a field with very slow upward tracking (i.e., shortly before transit). There were no overcurrents, however, and hopefully the problem can be addressed soon. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:20 dcamera 541( 887) 128 71 10.8 13.7 13.1 13.9 11.0 - 1.17 01:39 ecamera 682( -277) 123 39 8.0 8.0 8.5 7.9 7.9 ND1 1.41 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 54 26 2 249 (WSW) 816 ptly cldy none 17:00 63 30 10 253 (WSW) 928 ptly cldy none 18:00 59 26 13 266 (W) 924 ptly cldy none 19:00 57 24 7 256 (WSW) 791 mstly clr none 20:00 51 21 1 179 (S) 834 mstly clr none 21:00 49 30 7 93 (E) 797 clear none 22:00 48 31 13 110 (ESE) 879 clear none 23:00 49 30 15 128 (SE) 989 ptly cldy none 00:00 50 28 16 127 (SE) 1074 ptly cldy none 01:00 49 28 10 105 (ESE) 948 mstly clr none 02:00 46 31 12 91 (E) 981 clear none 03:00 46 31 17 114 (ESE) 1191 clear none 04:00 43 32 13 115 (ESE) 1203 clear none 05:00 45 32 15 124 (SE) 1212 clear none 06:00 47 30 11 135 (SE) 1119 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
