I used a small 30 point model, GRID_6_5_25_82_T_60.DAT, so I didn't impact science too much. I needed a tcc offset calib/pabs -0.0,0.04 to fix the star position for the model to work, with MaxAltForCorr set to 60 per wiki. I also took about 20 mins to check a few stars (and correct pointing) with the echelle at the start of 2nd half. Pointing seemed off with both DIS and the Echelle. OK, for science but not as good as we are used to with the 3.5m. Some stars landed right on or very near the boresight, others at the edge of the field. I used A Lyr as a reference (using the APOLLO catalog) which put the star on the echelle in the upper left corner. My observer then slewed to a relatively nearby field and their object was also upper left, similiar in position to A Lyr. I then slewed to a reference star at that coord and the reference star was directly on the boresight. Russet further investigated the pointng model and thinks the problem is with the magnasensor crossings. Humidity closed us at 02:36 Due to high humidity I called it an evening at 05:20. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 23:23 dcamera 605( 471) 144 36 3.3 3.5 4.0 3.5 3.2 -- 2.20 01:32 ecamera 791( -431) 115 38 2.9 2.8 3.5 2.9 2.7 ND3 1.00 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 51 29 9 263 (W) 479 cloudy none 17:00 45 28 6 271 (W) 423 cloudy rain 18:00 37 30 19 257 (WSW) 746 cloudy rain 19:00 36 31 16 239 (WSW) 5576 cloudy lt rain 20:00 37 31 15 285 (WNW) 477 cloudy fog 21:00 36 31 18 297 (WNW) 405 mstly cldy none 22:00 39 29 6 262 (W) 454 ptly cldy none 23:00 39 29 12 274 (W) 365 ptly cldy none 00:00 39 30 9 266 (W) 350 clear none 01:00 37 31 8 254 (WSW) 363 clear none 02:00 37 31 11 232 (SW) 334 clear none 03:00 36 30 13 233 (SW) 342 mstly clr humid 04:00 35 31 12 244 (WSW) 376 mstly clr humid 05:00 35 30 12 234 (SW) 443 mstly clr humid Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
