We were open all night but some of the time nothing was accomplished, so I estimated how much was useless. We ran the new guide software all night and it handled the clouds gracefully. The only problem occurred when it failed to handle a jump at the time of telescope transit (made harder because I was using a long exposure time). In the morning during twilight flats, SPIcam hung up when an exposure was requested that should be the minimum acceptable time (0.76s). A hard instrument reset was required to recover. The observer said she got enough flats anyway, so no time lost. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:56 dcamera 482( 530) 182 70 6.5 7.8 7.7 7.6 6.0 - 1.13 00:53 SPIcam 613( 681) 316 68 5.9 5.3 5.7 5.4 5.7 r 0.71 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 46 18 11 304 (NW) 691 ptly cldy none 17:00 48 19 12 265 (W) 691 ptly cldy none 18:00 44 18 7 261 (W) 691 ptly cldy none 19:00 44 18 9 234 (SW) 691 ptly cldy none 20:00 41 18 12 245 (WSW) 691 ptly cldy none 21:00 42 17 10 252 (WSW) 691 ptly cldy none 22:00 42 15 12 243 (WSW) 691 ptly cldy none 23:00 42 14 11 259 (W) 691 ptly cldy none 00:00 42 13 12 264 (W) 691 ptly cldy none 01:00 43 16 15 276 (W) 691 ptly cldy none 02:00 43 17 16 272 (W) 691 ptly cldy none 03:00 43 18 16 289 (WNW) 691 ptly cldy none 04:00 42 18 14 293 (WNW) 691 ptly cldy none 05:00 41 18 12 300 (WNW) 691 ptly cldy none 06:00 41 18 14 307 (NW) 691 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
