At the start of the night seeing was around 1.2, then in the middle of the evening it was 0.5-0.6 arcseconds on the echelle slitviewer. During second half with Agile (using a blue filter) it was more like 1-1.5 arcseconds, and with APOLLO (using a green filter and at high airmass) it was worse than 2 arcseconds. But it was nice to get the good images while they lasted! Agile was still having a rotator difficulty, but fortunately the targets were in the area where the rotator was happy, and everything went very smoothly. APOLLO finally got some good data after work done on the instrument earlier in the month, and at first look it appears that the work brought some real improvements in detector behavior. We were also very happy to have >0 measurements for this lunation; we had been thinking it might be worse than July. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:20 ECHELLE 896( 125) -10 40 10.7 11.8 10.7 11.6 10.7 Clear 1.21 20:21 ECHELLE 672( -210) -31 76 10.3 10.2 10.4 10.1 10.0 Clear 1.03 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 55 21 6 314 (NW) 238 clear none 17:00 54 23 8 357 (N) 274 clear none 18:00 54 19 6 354 (N) 242 clear none 19:00 52 10 10 356 (N) 181 clear none 20:00 51 20 11 354 (N) 208 clear none 21:00 50 23 11 3 (N) 265 clear none 22:00 50 21 10 323 (NW) 223 clear none 23:00 51 23 15 321 (NW) 306 clear none 00:00 51 29 13 317 (NW) 524 clear none 01:00 51 29 6 335 (NNW) 635 clear none 02:00 51 29 8 344 (NNW) 645 clear none 03:00 51 30 16 308 (NW) 615 clear none 04:00 51 29 7 317 (NW) 477 clear none 05:00 51 28 8 354 (N) 469 clear none 06:00 51 23 11 23 (NNE) 447 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
