Nothing obvious wrong but it improved the spectra placement slightly (which is good). I also checked the slit mask to see if it was installed correctly. We had a tilted slit last night after slit rotation. Found the nut a little loose. Removed wheel and re-installed. Fritz worked at better refining the fiducials at the start of the night before we could start the pointing model. Not fixing this would most likely have caused problems with the pointing model. Needed more attention so Fritz will further refine tomorrow during the daytime. No new pointing models tonight. Spot checked pointing at several sky locations, looked good. Next we worked more on Guider focus vs. rotation with piston values Bill recommended. Results sent to Bill DD01 took 2.5 hrs to collect some data for an upcoming run. Clouds started getting worse, and Kaike couldn't use the time with the clouds, so we fixed pointing with the SH. With thinning cirrus, Russet used the SH on a couple stars and adjusted collimation. Did some tracking tests to monitor drive currents at the end of the night. Just a small blip (~1A) between 11:14 and 11:16UT. The drive was tracking downward past meridian at high alt >80. Curent rose from -4A to -2A then leveled off. Tracking upward I didn't see anything. Current held steady at ~4.5A I tracked almost to the upper alt limit, no problems anc current stayed right around 4.5A. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:31 GUIDER 524( 1224) 8 57 15.7 17.4 16.8 16.9 15.5 clear 0.84 01:01 dis-slit 437( 804) -35 52 13.4 13.8 14.2 13.7 13.2 -- 0.97 04:03 SHACK 625( 1465) -56 64 12.6 12.5 13.0 12.6 12.2 -- 1.00 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 68 48 12 224 (SW) ptly cldy none 17:00 69 49 9 251 (WSW) ptly cldy none 18:00 68 46 17 287 (WNW) cloudy rain 19:00 63 46 7 265 (W) ptly cldy none 20:00 60 46 11 260 (W) mstly clr none 21:00 59 45 11 264 (W) mstly clr none 22:00 59 45 11 254 (WSW) mstly clr none 23:00 59 46 14 228 (SW) mstly clr none 00:00 58 47 16 223 (SW) ptly cldy none 01:00 56 48 9 281 (W) ptly cldy none 02:00 56 49 7 267 (W) ptly cldy none 03:00 55 49 7 272 (W) ptly cldy none 04:00 55 49 8 336 (NNW) mstly clr none 05:00 54 48 8 332 (NNW) mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
