Not too many moths up there with all the bats. :) I let them out of the dome at sunset (felt like I was at Carlsbad Caverns with them swirling out the dome slit over my head!) Small pointing model to check Fritz's adjustments today. Adjustments looked promising and in the correct direction. Checked DIS focus vs. slitviewer Large pointing model to better understand fiducials. Some improvement but more work needed. Implemented new model. Fixed pointing at TR2, NA1, BC1 Agile rotator failed to rotate, will need to be investigated during either checkout or cloudy weather. Russet noticed some Astigmatism with Apollo, but clouds closed us before we could pursue it much farther. With the clouds (and possible threatening weather nearby) I took some in dome throughput comparison spectra (He and Br Qrtz) with the B400 and B600 gratings. I also made a new set of DIS slit masks, which finished the night. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:28 GUIDER 434( 1217) -49 53 17.3 19.1 19.2 18.9 17.2 R 0.96 21:41 dis-slit 423( 961) 304 55 16.7 17.2 17.5 16.8 16.2 -- 1.16 22:27 GUIDER 609( 1269) -57 40 16.2 16.2 16.7 16.0 15.8 U 0.95 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 68 49 5 199 (SSW) cloudy rain 17:00 72 52 2 223 (SW) cloudy rain 18:00 69 49 4 109 (ESE) ptly cldy none 19:00 68 49 5 164 (SSE) ptly cldy none 20:00 66 50 6 95 (E) ptly cldy none 21:00 64 50 10 89 (E) ptly cldy none 22:00 62 46 11 87 (E) ptly cldy none 23:00 61 46 13 85 (E) mstly clr none 00:00 61 46 12 92 (E) mstly clr none 01:00 61 44 13 89 (E) ptly cldy none 02:00 61 41 13 115 (ESE) ptly cldy none 03:00 62 43 1 286 (WNW) mstly cldy none 04:00 61 42 12 132 (SE) ptly cldy none 05:00 62 41 11 139 (SE) ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
