While the dome was closed, we experimented with the secondary and got some more information about the galil fault that was causing problems earlier in the week. We don't expect it to cause problems for normal observing, but we do want to know more about the nature of the problem. Then the weather turned good and we opened. Seeing looked good, but we did not measure it. We did not recheck collimation because we only opened in the middle of the night, but we did two pointing models and a corrected pointing. The pointing in the altitude direction still needs a little bit of work. The dark current on DIS appears to be completely resolved on the red side. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 71 51 10 259 (W) ptly cldy none 17:00 73 49 14 263 (W) ptly cldy none 18:00 68 46 11 265 (W) ptly cldy none 19:00 69 50 11 264 (W) ptly cldy none 20:00 66 48 7 257 (WSW) ptly cldy none 21:00 64 48 11 233 (SW) ptly cldy none 22:00 63 48 6 259 (W) ptly cldy none 23:00 63 48 6 254 (WSW) mstly cldy none 00:00 62 48 7 278 (W) cloudy lt rain 01:00 62 49 5 352 (N) ptly cldy none 02:00 63 47 7 302 (WNW) mstly clr none 03:00 62 47 5 263 (W) clear none 04:00 62 47 9 304 (NW) clear none 05:00 62 47 5 309 (NW) clear none 06:00 62 48 5 294 (WNW) clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
