Skies were mostly clear first half and clear second half, with moderate seeing. We had two azimuth motion errors at 10:03 UT and 10:15 UT while tracking in the southeastern sky, on the same target. After the second one, I checked the drive surfaces and found some moth guts, which I cleaned off. The interrupted exposures were weak but probably usable, so the only time counted off is from cleaning and re-acquiring. The primary would like to be CO2-cleaned, since dust was high Saturday night and somebody turned off the switch for the press fans. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DD04 D T/H 04:15 04:30 Az error - moth guts? ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:31 TSPEC 554( 995) -44 68 17.1 18.4 18.4 18.2 17.0 Ks 1.09 20:35 ECHELLE 477( -389) -15 53 16.5 17.1 17.4 16.9 16.3 ND1 1.45 00:25 dis-slit 372( 496) -76 44 17.6 15.7 16.3 15.8 16.8 - 1.39 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 63 49 5 93 (E) 2514 ptly cldy none 17:00 65 47 6 110 (ESE) 2630 ptly cldy none 18:00 67 45 8 86 (E) 2432 ptly cldy none 19:00 65 48 7 110 (ESE) 2045 mstly clr none 20:00 64 47 12 85 (E) 2123 mstly clr none 21:00 62 46 13 89 (E) 2359 mstly clr none 22:00 62 44 11 91 (E) 2502 mstly clr none 23:00 62 43 11 89 (E) 2030 clear none 00:00 60 43 17 123 (ESE) 1723 clear none 01:00 61 42 10 116 (ESE) 1647 clear none 02:00 68 36 1 197 (SSW) 1341 clear none 03:00 65 37 6 255 (WSW) 1548 clear none 04:00 65 40 6 189 (S) 1912 clear none 05:00 63 41 4 186 (S) 1776 clear none 06:00 62 41 6 194 (SSW) 1664 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
