Once we were able to open, seeing was good but turned moderate/bad quickly. Soon after the start of the second half, the dust increased and hovered around the closing limit. It eventually dropped down, but had occasional upswings (although not worrisome). These were not just dust, they smelled strongly of smoke. I know that it's now the weekend, but the mirror should be checked/cleaned on Monday. No other problems to report. Echelle pointing was good, no motion errors. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 23:18 NICFPS 227( 953) -29 60 17.4 18.1 18.6 18.2 17.1 MK-Ks 0.99 00:18 ECHELLE 484( -377) 100 44 15.9 16.9 17.4 16.8 16.2 Clear 1.72 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 73 32 21 244 (WSW) 820 mstly clr none 17:00 73 33 11 246 (WSW) 899 ptly cldy none 18:00 71 34 15 222 (SW) 917 mstly cldy none 19:00 69 33 9 262 (W) 1231 mstly cldy none 20:00 67 37 10 212 (SSW) 1246 cloudy none 21:00 67 37 15 205 (SSW) 1451 cloudy none 22:00 65 38 14 201 (SSW) 1688 cloudy none 23:00 64 39 20 232 (SW) 2681 ptly cldy none 00:00 62 38 12 210 (SSW) 2068 mstly clr smoke 01:00 62 39 5 177 (S) 5100 ptly cldy smoke 02:00 60 41 2 158 (SSE) 5882 clear none 03:00 63 27 7 258 (WSW) 2851 clear none 04:00 63 22 7 261 (W) 2850 clear none 05:00 63 20 7 264 (W) 3393 clear smoke Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
