Observing Specialist: A.Shugart
Weather kept us closed until just after midnight. Finally got on sky when
dust and clouds cleared to a reasonable level.
And of course, they came back when SPIcam came on. I remained open and on
sky, but there wasn't any data acquired during the first hour of the
program because of the thick clouds obscuring the target field. At 2:30, I
switched to Echelle, hoping that we could get some data through the
clouds.
We did not accomplish much with echelle, because we could not find the
right field. Between heavy cloud cover and pointing checks, we did not
start taking data until 03:37. Pointing checks were fine- it just took
some intervention to match up guider charts with the ecam image. These
were not mechanical issues, so I did not put this down as time lost. We
were on sky, just not getting data.
