The observers had been warned of this; the first half observer was more concerned with the blue spectra, and by midnight the instrument had cooled more so that the dark current was comparable to the past few weeks. It was clear all night with poor but not awful seeing. We were able to open before sunset for cooling. The first science slew of the night had a magnesensor problem that took a while to catch since at first I just thought the sky was too bright to see the target; by the time that was cleared up and the telescope was focused, the sky was dark enough for science. Aside from those issues, everything worked well. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:07 dis-slit 392( 843) 240 56 19.7 22.4 21.9 22.0 20.0 - 1.80 00:19 dis-slit 415( 614) -27 39 18.5 17.0 17.4 16.8 17.6 - 2.00 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 81 37 15 285 (WNW) 1290 ptly cldy none 17:00 79 38 13 289 (WNW) 1309 ptly cldy none 18:00 82 38 11 256 (WSW) 1277 ptly cldy none 19:00 75 34 6 260 (W) 1204 mstly clr none 20:00 72 32 5 250 (WSW) 1266 mstly clr none 21:00 67 34 15 114 (ESE) 1089 clear none 22:00 67 33 22 128 (SE) 1020 clear none 23:00 66 29 20 128 (SE) 947 clear none 00:00 63 33 17 135 (SE) 924 clear none 01:00 63 36 16 146 (SE) 902 clear none 02:00 65 33 13 188 (S) 778 clear none 03:00 67 31 11 186 (S) 598 clear none 04:00 63 34 5 184 (S) 701 clear none 05:00 65 30 6 204 (SSW) 624 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
