Open, but cloudy at 21:15. Remained open. We were never able to get on sky with PU01- it was too cloudy to guide on her faint targets, so it was lost to weather. She gave up a bit early, and let PU05 take over. During the Echelle runs, PU05 and UW12 noticed that the stars they slewed to we almost invariably in the lower right-hand corner. At one point, the star did not appear fully in the slit-viewer, and I had to manually nudge the telescope to be able to center-select the star. I did a successful pointing check, but was unable to investigate further. For the time being, we opted to cope to avoid losing sky time. Once the weather cleared up, the night was pretty productive. No more problems. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:56 dis-slit 586( 604) 228 73 12.8 14.1 14.1 14.1 12.9 -- 1.92 22:52 ECHELLE 592( -581) 226 38 9.9 10.6 11.2 10.5 9.9 ND4 2.32 03:30 ECHELLE 521( -916) 252 36 4.6 5.4 5.9 5.2 4.6 ND3 1.68 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 61 18 29 266 (W) 2585 clear none 17:00 62 20 27 268 (W) 5245 mstly clr dust 18:00 61 18 23 255 (WSW) 3954 ptly cldy dust 19:00 59 17 27 257 (WSW) 5987 ptly cldy dust 20:00 56 17 23 241 (WSW) 7217 ptly cldy dust 21:00 55 18 18 263 (W) 3218 mstly cldy none 22:00 52 11 10 326 (NW) 2563 cloudy none 23:00 50 9 12 25 (NNE) 1052 mstly clr none 00:00 47 13 13 349 (N) 1774 mstly clr none 01:00 45 18 17 21 (NNE) 1290 mstly clr none 02:00 45 17 12 2 (N) 958 clear none 03:00 41 22 14 10 (N) 963 clear none 04:00 40 23 13 2 (N) 1004 clear none 05:00 40 23 21 16 (NNE) 952 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
