Russet helped me figure out the gratings- the vertical down shift in the spectra was not something I could fix in a reasonable amount of time, so we let it stand. UC01's cals ran past his start time, although we were open and cooling. We did not get on sky until 21:00. I was unsure how to log this loos, because Sean was taking data, but I ultimately decided on equipment time, because the gratings were not cooperating during set-up, and I ran over my time. I did not list it in the failure log- it was only my misunderstanding of the setup and not the actual eqiupment that was malfunctioning. [Changed from Equip time to Obs time, since this isn't an equipement failure. - JMD per WK] Counts for Bright quartz were low while on sky. I couldn't find a justifiable answer, but it's possible that she was comparing open counts to closed counts, but other than that, there were no more problems. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:08 ECHELLE 567( -529) 230 72 12.1 12.9 13.0 12.4 12.1 ND4 1.10 01:15 dis-slit 462( 296) 119 47 10.2 10.1 10.7 10.2 9.7 -- 1.77 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 57 20 16 272 (W) 1591 clear none 17:00 60 20 17 251 (WSW) 1598 clear none 18:00 61 17 23 238 (WSW) 2283 clear none 19:00 58 16 25 256 (WSW) 3608 clear none 20:00 55 16 22 263 (W) 4283 mstly clr dust 21:00 54 18 22 258 (WSW) 2321 clear none 22:00 53 19 17 263 (W) 1710 clear none 23:00 53 19 14 267 (W) 1686 mstly clr none 00:00 52 20 18 268 (W) 1525 clear none 01:00 51 21 21 272 (W) 1639 clear none 02:00 50 20 16 266 (W) 1482 clear none 03:00 49 20 12 287 (WNW) 1496 clear none 04:00 48 21 19 298 (WNW) 2514 clear none 05:00 46 22 12 287 (WNW) 2329 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
