Comet PanSTARRS (all the way down to 8.5 airmasses, we only had about a 20-30 minute window for observations to observe it), Jupiter, and some other objects and a look thru the eyepiece to end the students visit. CU Students training tonight: Stacey Pugeski, Eric McNeil, Jesse Caldweli, Amber Hall, Joel Medez, Brandon Parllet, Ben Gean GIFS stopped around 02:59 when the user issued a hub restart command. They didn't notice until about 30 mins later that the instrument was no longer working. We switched to DIS when we couldn't figure out how to reset the instrument and get it working again. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:54 dis-slit 500( 136) 222 56 4.6 6.3 6.2 6.6 4.7 -- 1.40 20:26 dis-slit 504( 97) 225 51 4.5 5.4 5.6 5.3 4.5 -- 1.25 22:01 dis-slit 478( 10) 336 54 4.1 4.3 4.7 4.3 3.8 -- 1.20 01:25 GIFS 450( 68) -11 85 3.2 3.3 3.8 3.3 2.8 6700 1.00 01:26 NA2gdr 118(30118) -13 85 2.7 3.3 3.8 3.3 2.8 R 1.10 04:17 dis-slit 477( -38) -94 44 4.0 3.2 3.7 3.1 3.4 -- 2.20 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 42 22 9 317 (NW) 522 clear none 17:00 46 20 5 310 (NW) 474 clear none 18:00 42 16 3 293 (WNW) 347 clear none 19:00 42 17 10 315 (NW) 297 clear none 20:00 40 18 2 15 (NNE) 431 mstly clr none 21:00 40 19 5 347 (NNW) 389 mstly clr none 22:00 39 19 0 191 (S) 312 ptly cldy none 23:00 40 19 4 291 (WNW) 310 ptly cldy none 00:00 39 19 4 334 (NNW) 302 clear none 01:00 40 18 11 326 (NW) 340 clear none 02:00 39 19 2 324 (NW) 293 clear none 03:00 39 18 5 351 (N) 358 clear none 04:00 40 19 10 331 (NNW) 294 clear none 05:00 39 19 8 315 (NW) 368 clear none 06:00 38 20 3 320 (NW) 311 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
