Russet eventually changed the slew speed to something slower, and that seemed to fix the problem. More details in the engineering email. It was very worrying. :( Attempted to check dis focus, but we were forced closed by threatening clouds. They stuck with us the rest of the night, and we gave up around 04:30. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:09 dis-slit 400( 257) -18 52 7.6 10.5 10.9 10.7 7.8 -- 1.38 19:48 dis-slit 537( 300) 1 50 7.3 8.8 9.1 8.1 7.4 -- 2.00 19:53 na2-guider 425( 177) -1 50 7.3 8.6 8.9 7.9 7.4 Clear 1.30 23:57 dis-slit 507( 215) 304 66 7.8 8.0 8.5 8.1 7.7 -- 1.28 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 51 17 9 236 (SW) 3272 clear none 17:00 52 12 10 265 (W) 2456 clear none 18:00 52 13 9 267 (W) 1439 clear none 19:00 50 14 12 228 (SW) 1980 mstly clr none 20:00 45 12 8 198 (SSW) 1805 clear none 21:00 45 16 7 191 (S) 2334 clear none 22:00 47 15 3 228 (SW) 2960 clear dust 23:00 50 14 8 273 (W) 3177 clear dust 00:00 48 14 7 227 (SW) 3068 ptly cldy dust 01:00 46 16 9 191 (S) 2745 cloudy dust 02:00 46 15 11 203 (SSW) 2677 cloudy dust 03:00 45 17 3 196 (SSW) 2631 cloudy dust 04:00 48 15 5 194 (SSW) 2602 mstly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
