During Cu04's cals, I had to do a nicfps expose init. That resolved the problem to finish darks and biases. Before getting on sky, I opened the dome and took some test exposures with NICFPS, but they failed or hung up. I restarted the nubs, the ICS, and the leech controller. Each time I re-initialized the instrument, I exposed with NFS=0. Upon chaging them to NFS=8, the exposure would fail. After going through this a few times, I called Bill for help. He was able to get it going again. Several of the error were because I did not have long enough exposure times for NFS=8. I will familiarize myself with this in the future. The pressure went to 8.9e-6 torr at 21:10. At this, even with the current load was maxed out, we decided to let it be and monitor the temperature. The rest of the night was productive, with good, nearly-constant seeing. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CU04 NICFPS I/H 20:05 21:10 NICFPS hanging up, b/c of user error ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:17 NICFPS 473( 780) 139 64 10.3 9.9 10.2 9.7 9.6 MK-Ks 1.80 01:40 TSPEC 532( 488) 8 47 8.5 8.5 9.0 8.6 8.1 -- 0.97 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 52 11 6 254 (WSW) 1297 clear none 17:00 56 12 14 253 (WSW) 1371 clear none 18:00 56 13 19 240 (WSW) 1355 clear none 19:00 52 11 18 225 (SW) 1441 clear none 20:00 50 10 14 225 (SW) 1352 clear none 21:00 51 9 24 225 (SW) 1364 clear none 22:00 50 7 22 241 (WSW) 1348 clear none 23:00 50 7 18 250 (WSW) 1454 clear none 00:00 49 8 14 266 (W) 1460 clear none 01:00 49 9 13 307 (NW) 1496 clear none 02:00 47 9 7 343 (NNW) 1375 clear none 03:00 48 11 14 322 (NW) 1359 clear none 04:00 48 12 13 334 (NNW) 1406 clear none 05:00 47 12 13 280 (W) 1451 clear none 06:00 46 11 18 295 (WNW) 1589 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
