Dust was high before sunset but came down during twilight. Wind was near the limit almost all night, above the limit some of the time, and we did close for a while during the worst wind gusts. Even when the wind was below the limit, we had some telescope difficulties while pointing near the wind. The worst cases included telescope/dome collision and 32 mph wind pushing the telescope even with brake engaged. After that I became more emphatic about keeping the telescope pointed away from the wind, and everything was much nicer. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:56 BLUE_DIS 575( 353) 131 72 9.1 9.4 9.6 9.2 8.7 g 1.25 23:03 BLUE_DIS 475( 164) 147 70 7.5 7.6 8.2 7.6 7.1 g 1.44 00:19 dis-slit 492( 144) 237 84 6.8 6.9 7.4 7.0 6.7 - 1.10 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 57 19 27 243 (WSW) 9924 clear dust 17:00 55 19 30 259 (W) 9037 clear dust 18:00 53 20 22 265 (W) 9894 clear dust 19:00 52 20 31 244 (WSW) 5473 clear dust 20:00 49 18 25 257 (WSW) 4901 clear none 21:00 49 17 27 266 (W) 3013 clear none 22:00 48 18 33 254 (WSW) 2195 clear none 23:00 47 17 24 268 (W) 2093 clear none 00:00 46 17 26 256 (WSW) 2447 clear none 01:00 45 18 20 250 (WSW) 2137 clear none 02:00 43 18 23 256 (WSW) 2665 clear none 03:00 41 20 15 256 (WSW) 2102 clear none 04:00 40 22 22 266 (W) 2429 clear none 05:00 40 23 11 261 (W) 2560 clear none 06:00 37 23 21 232 (SW) 2461 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
