I got 3 Spectra of the comet with DIS. Next pointing model with MS.DUMP in Az after every slew. I saw quite a bit of jumpiness on the Az dataq during the pointing model slews tonight. Anywhere from 2V P-P to 5V P-P. Not quite large enough to trigger an error on the drive but more than I am used to seeing. Throughput measurement (mostly photometric, but some really thin clouds low on the horizon, noted here for when I reduce these stars). Only small change in pointing model. Implemented new model, after the throughput measurements. Russet was having problems with Checked collimation with SPIcam. X-40, Y+20 Russet checked internal spectrograph focus and it looked good. 2nd half of the night was very productive for science. Instrument left on telescope since observer was doing morning cals with DIS. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:52 dis-slit 700( 405) 121 42 6.2 7.4 6.7 7.0 6.2 -- 1.80 20:10 dis-slit 663( 323) 216 62 6.6 7.0 6.7 6.8 6.3 -- 1.19 20:18 GUIDER 350( 153) 217 61 6.6 6.8 6.7 6.7 6.3 R+ND2 1.00 21:53 dis-slit 510( 106) 122 64 5.9 5.8 6.2 5.8 5.5 -- 1.20 21:57 NA2gdr 2155(24155) 122 65 5.9 5.7 6.2 5.8 5.5 clear 1.10 23:04 dis-slit 499( 98) 225 37 5.2 5.2 5.6 5.2 5.1 -- 1.77 00:44 dis-slit 485( 31) -140 76 5.6 4.9 5.2 5.1 5.3 -- 1.06 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 17:00 50 7 14 245 (WSW) 1523 clear none 18:00 48 7 18 269 (W) 1608 clear none 19:00 46 8 18 255 (WSW) 1851 clear none 20:00 44 5 27 238 (WSW) 1689 clear none 21:00 43 2 22 268 (W) 1527 clear none 22:00 43 2 22 267 (W) 1324 clear none 23:00 41 5 21 289 (WNW) 1761 clear none 00:00 41 6 19 284 (WNW) 1635 clear none 01:00 42 3 14 311 (NW) 1669 clear none 02:00 41 9 22 307 (NW) 1560 clear none 03:00 41 11 17 289 (WNW) 1528 mstly clr none 04:00 41 10 16 304 (NW) 1406 mstly clr none 05:00 41 9 21 309 (NW) 1384 ptly cldy none 06:00 40 9 10 307 (NW) 1412 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
