They didn't see the glow during their calibration darks, but once we slewed and got on sky it appeared in an aborted image (see /images/Q1NM02/UT130206/HATP23_02052013.0020.fits, this was with NFS=2). The image was aborted since it was the wrong type, but this shouldn't matter. The observer noticed the glow in all the subsequent science images as well. At the end of run, a second set of cals were taken and the glow went away (mirror covers closed but otherwise everything the same, rotation, etc). This was with the Fe II-1.60 filter in, not that it should matter. I also took 2 images (in the APO directory called ndark.0032 (FeII-1.60 filter in dark) and 33 (mask in dark). I didn't see the glow in either. Instrument was off the telescope for these two images and both 300s FS=1. I fixed the boresight for DIS in the Insturment file for the 1.5 arc sec slit. We lost our internet connection to the outside world around 02:10. It came back about 10 mins later. No telescope problems otherwise. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:37 NICFPS 704( 784) 1 64 1.7 5.5 2.8 6.3 2.9 Ks 0.87 18:39 NA2gdr -1826(41173) 0 64 2.0 5.4 2.7 6.3 2.8 R 1.07 00:30 dis-slit 499( -165) 133 74 1.5 0.8 1.2 0.8 0.4 -- 0.95 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 40 6 5 359 (N) 157 clear none 17:00 38 7 1 238 (WSW) 190 clear none 18:00 36 10 11 23 (NNE) 135 clear none 19:00 36 10 9 19 (NNE) 177 clear none 20:00 37 3 4 346 (NNW) 61 clear none 21:00 37 2 4 295 (WNW) 52 clear none 22:00 36 8 4 256 (WSW) 84 clear none 23:00 35 11 8 239 (WSW) 124 clear none 00:00 35 9 5 255 (WSW) 126 clear none 01:00 35 20 11 265 (W) 166 clear none 02:00 35 21 9 264 (W) 174 clear none 03:00 34 23 8 263 (W) 177 clear none 04:00 35 24 12 264 (W) 159 clear none 05:00 35 24 9 262 (W) 211 clear none 06:00 34 24 12 257 (WSW) 252 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
