Delayed opening due to high winds and a lot of dust. Winds stayed borderline high while I did a regular NA2 pointing model. During a NA1 pointing model, I was forced closed. Once I gave up on hoping the wind would die down, I mounted nicfps for in-dome testing. Of course, as soon as I got finished with this, the wind was safe again. So I went up and opend for a reverse NA2 pointing model. Before I could do that, I had to move the telescope off of the enclosure (thanks to Moses and Kaike for helping me!!) Then I was able to do the last pointing model, even though seeing was atrocious. The wind blew off a piece of siding from the Apollo box. I propped it up against the box, but it needs to be put back on. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:03 NA2gdr -459(29540) 109 84 -4.3 -1.8 -1.6 -1.8 -4.0 Clear 2.27 03:01 NA2gdr -459(29540) 198 75 -8.7 -9.0 -8.7 -8.8 -8.8 Clear 3.50 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 38 5 23 264 (W) 954 clear dust 17:00 37 0 31 253 (WSW) 13692 clear dust 18:00 34 -1 23 295 (WNW) 5478 clear wind 19:00 26 0 29 0 (N) 1351 clear wind 20:00 24 -2 15 336 (NNW) 774 clear wind 21:00 22 -1 30 33 (NNE) 507 clear wind 22:00 20 0 5 14 (NNE) 356 clear wind 23:00 18 -2 16 51 (NE) 808 clear wind 00:00 17 -6 30 32 (NNE) 723 clear wind 01:00 16 -10 37 23 (NNE) 874 clear wind 02:00 15 -10 18 51 (NE) 803 clear wind 03:00 17 -18 24 28 (NNE) 307 clear none 04:00 17 -22 20 42 (NE) 251 clear none 05:00 19 -23 9 28 (NNE) 314 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
