Observing Specialist: A.Shugart
Saw horizontal streaks in the echelle slitviewer even though the ~8.7 mag
star was not saturating. Using filter ND3, 3 second exposures. Some good
examples are images 0500- 0515.
Also, when slewing short distances, the inteded objects would appear in
the top left extreme of the ecam slitviewer. This happened at least twice.
I couldn't explain why these objects were always appearing in the same
area, and not closer to the boresight. Closed at 21:43 because of radar.
Began snowing/sleeting at 22:30. Second half user gave up with the bad
news.
I began taking data with NICFPS to determine if I could reproduce the
glow. I managed to take some darks, some flats with the obs lights on, and
some truss lamp flats. I could not so far reproduce the glow, as I was
only able to take data for a fraction of the configurations that were
mentioned in Bill's email. Data can be found in
/Q1APO/UT130212?nicfps_tests.
Parked the telescope in snow position. Did fills shortly after 3:30 am.
