After further examination of the problem of DIS blue spectral shifts, we managed to avoid any shifting tonight by keeping the instrument rotation between -160 to 0. The diagnosis of the problem also indicates an approach to a solution, although it remains to be seen how complicated this will be. No other problems tonight with telescope or instruments. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:32 ecamera 766( -140) 28 72 7.3 9.7 9.2 9.8 7.7 ND1 0.69 18:27 dcamera 675( 711) 78 76 7.1 7.6 7.9 7.4 6.9 - 0.89 00:19 ecamera 710( -335) 244 65 8.0 6.9 7.4 7.1 7.2 ND2 0.62 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 50 27 15 233 (SW) 472 mstly clr none 17:00 48 28 12 215 (SW) 534 mstly clr none 18:00 47 30 10 187 (S) 553 mstly clr none 19:00 46 32 15 204 (SSW) 672 clear none 20:00 45 32 19 201 (SSW) 768 clear none 21:00 46 29 15 208 (SSW) 773 clear none 22:00 45 28 19 204 (SSW) 809 clear none 23:00 46 31 19 216 (SW) 636 clear none 00:00 47 30 20 215 (SW) 628 clear none 01:00 46 31 17 204 (SSW) 703 clear none 02:00 47 30 15 207 (SSW) 725 clear none 03:00 47 31 18 210 (SSW) 692 clear none 04:00 47 32 20 215 (SW) 692 ptly cldy none 05:00 45 31 20 221 (SW) 565 ptly cldy none 06:00 43 31 17 224 (SW) 680 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
