We opened late because of humidity. During UW01 shift, at about 18:30, echelle issued temperature warnings. I went upstairs to do a manual fill. It took quite a long time, and I noticed LN2 issuing from the braided line from the nurse tank to the instrument itself, a few inches away from the connection of this line to the instrument. One of the two tanks filled quickly, the other took upwards of 45 minutes. During this time, I was able to open and work with the first user, as well as babysit echelle, without disturbing data collection. I checked the instrument again during the switch from UW01 to UW09. The ion pump displayed 5 lit LEDs, and the temperature was increasing again. I initiated another manual fill at this point, and while Russet was graciously assisting the user, I babysat echelle. I discovered the nurse tank was nearly empty at 2:49. I had to slowly fill it as the LN2 was boiling off and creating high pressure in the tank. This took some loving care. After the nurse tank was completely full again, I was able to initiate another manual fill at 04:30. The weather had us open and closing during all of B-half. But, because of the weather and Russet's aid, we never lost science time dealing with echelle. Hence the lack of failure notices. I was able to babysit without disturbing data collection. High humidity kept closing us, and the user called it a night at 05:05. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:19 SPICAM 700( 252) 80 43 1.0 1.5 3.1 1.2 1.1 SDSSR 2.50 01:23 dis-slit 647( 17) -110 37 0.6 0.7 2.1 0.8 0.5 -- 1.50 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 35 31 20 262 (W) 344 cloudy humid 17:00 35 31 16 237 (WSW) 342 cloudy humid 18:00 34 30 12 248 (WSW) 441 cloudy humid 19:00 34 28 20 253 (WSW) 295 mstly cldy humid 20:00 34 28 22 272 (W) 316 mstly cldy none 21:00 34 28 12 262 (W) 363 mstly cldy none 22:00 34 28 18 270 (W) 503 mstly cldy none 23:00 34 28 20 266 (W) 590 mstly cldy none 00:00 34 28 14 265 (W) 667 ptly cldy none 01:00 34 29 18 255 (WSW) 665 mstly cldy none 02:00 33 29 19 234 (SW) 695 mstly cldy humid 03:00 34 28 27 245 (WSW) 549 mstly cldy humid 04:00 33 30 23 214 (SW) 574 mstly cldy humid 05:00 32 30 23 207 (SSW) 546 cloudy humid 06:00 32 31 27 213 (SSW) 507 cloudy humid Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
