When we did open, it was mostly clear, but there was one more wave of clouds passing through first half which added an exrta hour of unusable time. Second half looked lovely, until we realized that none of the three dewpoint sensors were reporting accurate numbers and the real humidity was quite high. By checking surfaces in the dome, I was able to stay open longer than the 2.5m, but eventually it was too much and I decided it was time to close. During first half there were pointing difficulties on several stars. At least two of these were stars with high proper motion and when I checked a pointing standard it came up perfectly under the slit. But one case did seem to be a mystery, with the nearby pointing standard also significantly off; we slewed away (magnesensor crossings showed small corrections) and then back, and the star was there the second time. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:09 ECHELLE 441( -717) 214 40 9.0 11.0 10.5 11.1 9.4 ND4 1.15 01:23 NICFPS 285( 515) 49 47 8.4 8.1 8.5 8.1 7.8 Ks 0.57 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 49 24 5 246 (WSW) 233 cloudy lt rain 17:00 52 25 2 237 (WSW) 229 cloudy none 18:00 52 26 3 232 (SW) 200 mstly cldy none 19:00 49 22 1 221 (SW) 181 mstly cldy none 20:00 47 32 13 48 (NE) 129 ptly cldy none 21:00 49 30 5 11 (N) 162 mstly clr none 22:00 49 32 2 266 (W) 175 mstly clr none 23:00 49 20 1 324 (NW) 155 ptly cldy none 00:00 47 32 2 221 (SW) 283 clear none 01:00 47 31 3 277 (W) 242 clear none 02:00 46 31 5 335 (NNW) 235 clear none 03:00 46 32 4 336 (NNW) 346 clear humid 04:00 46 32 8 347 (NNW) 356 clear humid 05:00 47 32 7 4 (N) 337 clear humid Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
