No real science other than getting focused. I closed the mirror covers as a precaution with the clouds. Several minutes later we had a few sprinkles that set the rain sensor off and I quickly closed the main enclosure shutter doors. Nothing significant in terms of rain on the mirror covers or telescope. Clouds and wind kept us closed for the remainder of the first half. Seeing was horrible to start the 2nd half due to wind direction and the cold front that was moving thru. Seeing settled a litte better (probably 1.5 arc sec) after the telescope temps stabalized an hour or so later. I manually tweaked the focus during the night. Productive second half. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:40 dis-slit 500( 673) 8 57 14.6 17.0 15.4 17.3 15.1 -- 1.20 01:38 dis-slit 0( -299) -83 78 5.9 7.8 8.6 7.6 6.0 -- 4.30 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 63 21 15 255 (WSW) 162 clear none 17:00 65 22 8 306 (NW) 152 clear none 18:00 61 20 10 299 (WNW) 146 mstly clr none 19:00 59 22 2 257 (WSW) 187 ptly cldy none 20:00 58 22 5 264 (W) 191 mstly cldy lt rain 21:00 59 23 1 213 (SSW) 196 mstly cldy none 22:00 57 25 3 89 (E) 212 ptly cldy none 23:00 48 32 19 76 (ENE) 1329 ptly cldy none 00:00 45 47 37 61 (ENE) 1200 ptly cldy none 01:00 43 32 26 72 (ENE) 1053 mstly clr none 02:00 42 31 21 68 (ENE) 1157 mstly clr none 03:00 42 32 20 61 (ENE) 1150 clear none 04:00 44 30 21 70 (ENE) 774 clear none 05:00 44 29 20 75 (ENE) 711 clear none 06:00 44 29 18 64 (ENE) 799 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
