Only E-stop would stop the motion. Bill suggested I reset the az-rotator controller. I did this then released the E-stop. It started to move. I did 3 axis inits in a row - 1st cleared the Alt and Rot, 2nd stopped the motion in Az but it still reported "Motion error too large," the 3rd cleared the motion error. Then I did several test slews to make sure it knew where it was. It was fine the rest of the night. ecam abruptly stopped guiding 2nd half with the following errors: 08:03:00 NM08.Diane.ecam 70801 ecamera f text="sendCmd timed out: timed out" 08:03:00 NM08.Diane 13 ecam f text="text=\"sendCmd timed out: timed out\"" 08:04:32 NM08.Diane-4.ecam 70804 ecamera f text="unexpected response (not 3 lines): ['1 1 0 0 512 512 5.000000 1 -35.061556 image: binXY begXY sizeXY expTime camID temp', ' OK']" 08:04:32 NM08.Diane-4 30 ecam f text="text=\"unexpected response (not 3 lines): ['1 1 0 0 512 512 5.000000 1 -35.061556 image: binXY begXY sizeXY expTime camID temp', ' OK']\"" 08:04:39 NM08.Diane-4.ecam 70806 ecamera f text="could not read new image file: [Errno 21] Is a directory" 08:04:39 NM08.Diane-4 31 ecam f text="\"could not read new image file: [Errno 21] Is a directory\""" I restarted nubs and restarted guiding. The science exposure was paused while recovering. No time was lost. Later my obsever (NM08) was not getting proper ecam updates. Her guider was on file #1842, while mine was on #2175, but apparently on "Current". She was using TUI 1.9.2. She logged out and back in to TUI and the guider files were succinct with mine, and were fine the rest of the night. Mostly clear skies until 3 am. Overcast for about an hour then cleared a little with rising humidity. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 01:22 dis-slit 403( 461) -108 38 15.8 14.2 14.7 14.3 14.8 1.76 20:02 ECHELLE 350( -391) 7 40 16.2 19.2 18.8 18.7 17.0 ND2 1.94 20:46 ECHELLE 388( -463) 16 43 15.2 17.1 17.3 16.7 15.5 ND1 1.73 22:17 dis-slit 509( 565) 24 60 14.6 14.7 15.2 14.6 14.3 1.95 23:44 ECHELLE 393( -621) -2 41 13.7 13.9 14.4 13.9 13.7 ND2 1.30 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 69 46 6 298 (WNW) 813 mstly clr none 17:00 74 40 6 78 (ENE) 860 mstly clr none 18:00 68 45 1 227 (SW) 1049 mstly clr none 19:00 68 45 1 245 (WSW) 1079 mstly clr none 20:00 65 42 4 99 (E) 1002 mstly clr none 21:00 61 44 10 111 (ESE) 1352 mstly clr none 22:00 59 48 22 128 (SE) 1280 mstly clr none 23:00 58 48 20 131 (SE) 1331 mstly clr none 00:00 57 48 20 138 (SE) 1482 mstly clr none 01:00 57 48 18 136 (SE) 1413 mstly clr none 02:00 56 49 22 128 (SE) 1634 mstly clr none 03:00 55 49 15 136 (SE) 1480 cloudy none 04:00 56 48 10 159 (SSE) 986 ptly cldy none 05:00 56 48 9 179 (S) 900 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
