Finally mid-morning it cleared up properly and we got some actual work done. We saw some oscillations of the altitude axis on circumpolar targets. It was enough to make the stars look visibly elongated in good seeing conditions - the seeing for Tspec in the focus log should have been much better. But I don't think it was affecting guiding, because whenever the guiding was off it seemed to be closer to the azimuth direction. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 22:27 ECHELLE 253( -601) 138 70 16.2 17.6 17.4 17.2 16.2 Clear 0.67 02:51 TSPEC 325( 591) 186 49 15.0 14.7 15.0 14.5 14.3 Ks 1.24 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 63 47 4 135 (SE) 523 mstly cldy none 17:00 72 42 13 232 (SW) 398 mstly cldy none 18:00 70 42 19 250 (WSW) 440 mstly cldy none 19:00 65 45 4 51 (NE) 1687 cloudy none 20:00 61 42 5 21 (NNE) 415 cloudy lt rain 21:00 63 41 4 259 (W) 377 cloudy none 22:00 62 43 2 238 (WSW) 735 mstly cldy none 23:00 60 44 1 229 (SW) 960 ptly cldy none 00:00 60 44 1 202 (SSW) 924 mstly cldy none 01:00 59 45 2 136 (SE) 953 ptly cldy none 02:00 60 44 3 248 (WSW) 673 mstly clr none 03:00 58 45 8 181 (S) 727 clear none 04:00 58 45 2 192 (SSW) 937 clear none 05:00 59 45 1 206 (SSW) 858 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
