Wind and humidity increasing 2nd half, temps dropped suddenly making poor seeing terrible, and focusing difficult. ENG tasks: -tcam mask check (Joe) -ecam mask check, ND filter characterization (Joe) -NA1 pointing correction -SPIcam inst block -Collimation: 1st tried with SH but seeing was too poor to collect productive data. Then tried collimaion check with SPIcam. Seeing was still a problem but Russet thinks it looks ok. Try the SH collimation tomorrow if seeing is better. -Pointing model: Struggled to get anything at all with 3" seeing. TPOINT says it "Could not open data file" for tonight's file, so it was not analyzed or implemented. It was not very successful in finding many stars due to the poor seeing. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:11 ECHELLE 408( -433) -100 54 15.0 17.6 17.3 16.6 14.8 2.03 01:59 GUIDER 791( 733) 238 55 9.0 9.4 10.0 9.4 8.8 Red ND2 2.55 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 75 32 8 253 (WSW) 3251 ptly cldy none 17:00 72 30 6 184 (S) 3468 ptly cldy none 18:00 70 28 13 195 (SSW) 3248 ptly cldy none 19:00 68 26 14 234 (SW) 3108 ptly cldy none 20:00 60 36 10 84 (E) 1854 ptly cldy none 21:00 58 35 8 102 (ESE) 2229 ptly cldy none 22:00 61 23 11 183 (S) 2442 ptly cldy none 23:00 62 24 6 185 (S) 2721 ptly cldy none 00:00 54 35 14 79 (E) 1714 mstly clr none 01:00 50 37 15 81 (E) 968 clear none 02:00 50 38 25 68 (ENE) 1125 clear none 03:00 48 40 23 72 (ENE) 807 clear none 04:00 47 40 24 75 (ENE) 778 clear none 05:00 50 37 14 115 (ESE) 1077 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
