We checked the sky (which looked clear) and verified with the handheld dust counter in the Sloan room, which agreed with the normal dust counter. So I closed, especially since it continued to climb. Reopened at 03:52. At 04:15 the ecam shutter became stuck. I called Joe, and we tried restarting the camera and tested multiple stars but it won't open. I went up and watched the shutter while Joe took exposures, and it never moved. The rest of the night was lost. We called Bill as well. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:39 dis-slit 462( 591) -44 53 16.2 16.1 16.4 16.0 15.9 -- 0.98 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 66 24 28 208 (SSW) 2466 clear none 17:00 66 24 28 204 (SSW) 2688 mstly clr none 18:00 66 23 11 250 (WSW) 2559 clear none 19:00 63 22 14 206 (SSW) 3088 clear none 20:00 60 21 15 195 (SSW) 2810 clear none 21:00 61 19 19 200 (SSW) 2902 clear none 22:00 61 18 18 202 (SSW) 3067 clear none 23:00 60 18 10 190 (S) 2992 clear none 00:00 58 18 9 201 (SSW) 3338 clear none 01:00 55 24 16 148 (SSE) 10327 clear dust 02:00 55 24 14 182 (S) 8828 clear dust 03:00 55 21 23 189 (S) 5611 clear dust 04:00 54 20 16 201 (SSW) 3905 clear none 05:00 54 20 20 207 (SSW) 2812 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
