It was about the best sky we had seen for the whole night. We could just barely see the observers target and with no radar returns I let him observe. Clouds grew worse by 03:30 and he went to a brighter backup target (Jupiter). When we couldn't even see that, and inspecting the satellite images, we decided conditions were only going to grow worse and gave up for the night. I thawed the Echelle level gauge this morning. It is working once again. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 02:32 ECHELLE 702(-1304) 151 66 -3.2 -5.0 -4.7 -4.7 -4.1 ND3 1.00 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 26 4 9 348 (NNW) 10 cloudy none 17:00 25 2 12 10 (N) 53 cloudy none 18:00 24 4 5 338 (NNW) 19 cloudy none 19:00 24 4 8 298 (WNW) 0 cloudy none 20:00 23 5 9 323 (NW) 0 cloudy none 21:00 22 7 7 309 (NW) 0 cloudy none 22:00 21 9 8 302 (WNW) 0 cloudy none 23:00 22 4 9 314 (NW) 0 cloudy none 00:00 24 0 2 250 (WSW) 4 cloudy none 01:00 27 0 6 264 (W) 0 cloudy none 02:00 25 6 9 248 (WSW) 0 cloudy none 03:00 26 11 11 269 (W) 0 cloudy none 04:00 27 14 14 262 (W) 1 cloudy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
