Detailed log below. TSPEC (foresight) guiding tests using 9.7 mag star. See slit images: 22-59 (pre-transit, not so great background) 61-86 (through transit) 99-336 (clean bkg sub near slit, ie. no residual star images) 340-384 (bad background ie. subtracted star near slit) 387-432 (no guiding, checking drift) 436-443 (boresight guiding, no bkg sub) 449-460 (boresight guiding, no bkg sub, star initially moved slightly above slit) 472-545 (clean bkg, Russet perturbed telescope, image 525-532 peribation and guider made worse 546-564 (image defocused, elliptical) 573-634 (pertibations now at B position, 601-603 not good but recovered, 1.5" offsets) Fastcam Pointing Model Russet needed this info for determining the pointing model Data located on Fastcam computer e:/UT121102/test Az Alt Piston X Tilt Y Tilt X Y image.1.fits -91.9 66.3 0.00 675.00 275.00 622.48 756.19 image.2.fits -92.8 64.7 0.00 675.00 275.00 618.48 747.38 image.3.fits -92.9 64.6 0.00 775.00 275.00 682.78 820.72 image.4.fits -93.0 64.2 0.00 775.00 375.00 726.21 791.93 image.5.fits -37.4 28.8 0.00 675.00 275.00 631.47 758.79 image.6.fits -38.1 28.4 0.00 675.00 275.00 625.59 759.29 image.7.fits -38.2 28.3 0.00 775.00 275.00 690.58 824.82 image.8.fits -38.5 28.2 0.00 775.00 375.00 731.81 797.57 I needed to adjust the tertiary to center the star without boresight offsets (or the star was not in the field) for the track/pterr & tpoint. Russet didn't feel we needed any adjustments as the recommendations were small. We also put in an adjustment to test to see if the S-H software told us the correct things to do to collimate the optics. Verified the corrections given are correct. Something strange is with the northwest3 file, it's twice the size of the other files (3.5 gig instead of 1.8 gig). Maybe somehow northeast data was added to this file? I thought I created a new file but perhaps I was mistaken at 5:30 AM. 2 stars for Echelle comparisson, HD 93521 & HD 84927 (done in twilight) Russet mentioned that she needed cals, but didn't mention what exactly she needed so I took a default set using the Echelle cal script. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEDFNVOG) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp Strc Prim Sec Air filt FWHM -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:44 TSPEC 489( 554) 14 63 9.2 11.0 10.2 10.4 9.2 Ks 0.83 21:00 FASTCAM 489( 854) -49 59 9.1 9.0 9.4 9.0 8.9 -- 0.69 23:23 SHACK 189( 450) 239 65 9.2 8.0 8.5 8.0 7.8 -- 1.00 00:58 APOLLO 400( 796) 94 55 7.9 7.6 8.0 7.4 7.6 -- 1.30 02:19 FASTCAM 400( 686) -79 72 8.8 7.6 8.1 7.4 8.2 -- 0.80 06:21 ECHELLE 418( -953) 110 57 8.2 7.3 7.8 7.4 7.4 ND3 0.78 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:00 60 12 5 262 (W) 284 clear none 17:00 55 10 9 231 (SW) 231 clear none 18:00 52 10 8 263 (W) 297 clear none 19:00 48 12 9 292 (WNW) 316 mstly clr none 20:00 49 12 9 235 (SW) 337 clear none 21:00 48 11 7 208 (SSW) 325 mstly clr none 22:00 48 12 7 199 (SSW) 412 clear none 23:00 48 13 5 184 (S) 511 mstly clr none 00:00 48 13 6 204 (SSW) 437 clear none 01:00 47 13 5 182 (S) 352 clear none 02:00 47 15 6 184 (S) 346 clear none 03:00 48 13 7 218 (SW) 385 clear none 04:00 46 14 6 252 (WSW) 361 clear none 05:00 47 14 6 259 (W) 372 clear none 06:00 47 14 9 269 (W) 355 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
